1967-1971 Plymouth GTX

The 1967-1971 Plymouth GTX is the focus of this edition of the Muscle Car Showcase. The GTX was Plymouth’s new “supercar” for 1967. Based on the Belvedere, the GTX came standard with big V8 power and a host of other performance features. This intermediate was marketed as a gentleman’s muscle car — no greasy kid stuff here. 2017 North American International Auto Show

The 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is the first major auto show of the new year. The Motor City hosts one of the best shows for muscle car lovers and this year’s event was no exception. The Big Three were well represented and there were a few surprises that caught our attention as well. The temperature outside may have been in the teens but our enthusiasm heated up once we got inside Cobo Hall. There was so much to see and experience during the two-day media preview. This scrappy little fish was the original pony car, making waves in the muscle car world two weeks prior to the Mustang. Some may say this generation of the Barracuda is the Rodney Dangerfield of the early pony cars. It just doesn’t get the respect it deserves. However, this sporty fastback sank its teeth into the other pony cars every chance it got. It may have been a small fish in a large pond but we think this overlooked car is worth checking out. In this edition of the Muscle Car Showcase, we’ll take a look at the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 GT and GXP. For the first time in more than 20 years, Pontiac finally had a true muscle car sedan. The G8 GXP was also the most powerful muscle car Pontiac ever built. And it couldn’t have come along at a better time. Pontiac definitely needed a shot of adrenaline in its lineup.
