1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Special Edition

Standard

In this edition of the Muscle Car Showcase, we’ll take a look at the 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Special Edition. For many of us, this car defined the muscle car in the late 1970s. When other manufacturers had reduced their muscle car lineup or quit building them altogether, Pontiac kept the Trans Am alive with several special editions in the late 1970s. The 1977 Trans Am Special Edition was the most popular of all the special editions because of the movie Smokey and the Bandit. Burt Reynolds’ name may have been on the marquis, but the Trans Am Special Edition was the star of the show. Let’s turn back the clock 40 years and see why the 1977 Firebird Trans Am Special Edition is one of the most sought after muscle cars from the 1970s. Read the rest of this entry

2000 Ford Mustang Cobra R #6

The Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R is our featured muscle car in this edition of the Muscle Car Showcase. Developed by Ford’s newly-formed Special Vehicle Team, this snake was a factory-bred, street-legal racer with minimal frills but loaded with plenty of performance equipment. The Cobra R also brought back the factory racer that had been absent from Ford’s lineup for way too long. Quite simply, there was nothing quite like the Cobra R during its three year production run. A fifth Dodge Dealer Edition Viper ACR, not shown, is available through select Dodge dealers.

2017 will be a bittersweet year for the Dodge Viper. The iconic Viper will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year and also mourn its demise.

The good news is Dodge decided to end production on a high note. Several special edition Vipers will be released in 2017, including the Snakeskin Edition GTC, 1:28 Edition ACR, and VooDoo II Edition ACR. The bad news is these special editions have already sold out with one exception. The Viper Snakeskin ACR will be available to order in mid-July. Up to 31 of these special edition Viper Snakeskin ACRs will be built. Read the rest of this entry
