Fifty years ago, Chevrolet introduced a car that would become one of the most revered vehicles in its sports car lineup. Code named XP-836, the Camaro was Chevrolet’s contender in what would become one of the hottest segments in the automotive industry. The Camaro was Chevrolet’s entry into the pony car market that was wildly popular in the 1960s. It’s been said the word Camaro is derived from the French language meaning friend or comrade. The 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is the first major auto show of the new year. The Motor City hosts one of the best shows for muscle car lovers and this year’s event was no exception. The Big Three were well represented and there were a few surprises that caught our attention as well. The great thing about the Los Angeles Auto Show is that it marks the beginning of auto show season. We’ve been counting the days to the show and anxious to get up close and personal with some of the hottest new and vintage muscle during media days at this year’s spectacle. For the Camaro’s golden anniversary, Chevrolet is rolling out a special 50th Anniversary Edition. It will be available in coupe and convertible 2LT and 2SS models.
Dressed in Nightfall Gray, this anniversary edition will feature 20-inch 50th Anniversary wheels, unique striping and badging, and a unique grille with satin chrome accents. The package also includes a body-colored front splitter and orange brake calipers. The interior will feature unique black leather with suede inserts and orange accent stitching. The instrument panel, seatbacks, steering wheel, and sill plates will also feature exclusive 50th Anniversary treatments.
Pricing has not yet been released. The 50th Anniversary Edition Chevrolet Camaro should be available this coming summer.
